Margaret H. Willison

is a writer, podcaster, and educator based in Boston, MA. Her specialty is teaching people how to make connections between the art they love and their own lives. From Jane Austen to Taylor Swift, if a bookish brunette loves it, Margaret has probably designed a program dedicated to it. If she’s done her job right, you will leave her classes with a deeper understanding of both the texts you study and yourself.

Join my upcoming class!

Mansfield Park: Adaptation as Empathy is a 7-week long virtual workshop. Every Monday night from March 3rd-April 14th, we will gather to discuss Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park, using adaptation as a lens to enrich our understanding of the text. We will reimagine the story in new settings, from different perspectives, with different themes, all as ways to challenge ourselves to develop empathy for even the most frustrating characters. If you already love Mansfield Park, this is your chance to shout about it. And, if you have yet to read it, or yet to delight in it, this class should be an ideal way to reencounter Fanny Price and all her compatriots.

Testimonials from past students:

“Margaret’s Taylor Swift pilgrimage was one of the most special experiences of my life. To have designated time to discuss work that means so much to me with a group of people who feel the same, to focus on rest, to have a chance to think about what the sacred looks like in my non-religious life-- I'll carry it with me forever.” - Melody Rowell, podcast producer and member of Margaret’s 2024 Taylor Swift Pilgrimage.
